  29. EZ  Loader is a menu system designed to help you access your most used
  30. programs  by a single menu from any disk drive, as long as the program
  31. is on the drive requested. Although the program concept was written to
  32. help  CMD  Drive  users,  EZ  Loader works just fine on Commodore disk
  33. drives  and,  once  set  up,  can  be used as a menu for each disk. EZ
  34. Loader  operates in all modes: 64 and 128, 40 or 80 column, as well as
  35. slow  or  fast mode. EZ loader can call a 64 program from the 128 side
  36. menu  and drop into 64  mode to execute it. EZ Loader supports the TOD
  37. clock,  and  allows you to preset program execution times, so programs
  38. can run automatically from the menu.

  40. This  version  is mainly bug fixes and tweaks, but the known bugs were
  41. serious  enough to justify the release. The only real new feature is
  42. background colors are changeable now.
  43.  
  44. Registration  notes:  Due  to  the  request  from some users that some
  45. indication  and  advantage  be  given to those users who register this
  46. program,  I  have  disabled  certain  features  in the eval copy mode.
  47. Disabled  features include the mouse, clock and date display (assuming
  48. a  RTC  is  present),  loading  of  saved  data files, multiple screen
  49. access,  screen  blanking,  entry  exchange   option,  and timed event
  50. support,  and  auto booting of the first  file.  These  options can be
  51. enabled  once  the registration has been completed and you receive and
  52. enter the proper codes that I will need to send you.

  54.                     Features of EZ Loader include:
  55.  
  56. Up  to  8 screens of 40 names per screen for 320 total names per menu.
  57. Menus can call other menus, so entries are essentially unlimited.
  58.  
  59. To  execute  your selection just cursor to the selection and press the
  60. space  bar  -  see   notes. Alternately you can navigate direction and
  61. then press the fire button on the mouse, trackball or joystick.
  62.  
  63. Automatic and manual entry of data into the menu. In Edit mode, you can
  64. select the name from the directory listing and the information is
  65. automatically entered for you. If your not in eedit mod the program
  66. selested is automaticall run.

  68. Script  support:  You can select a group of programs that will execute
  69. in  sequence, as long as control is passed back to the menu after each
  70. program  runs;  which  is  normally  done  via  a  reset and using the
  71. autofile  option  on  a Ramlink or boot sector on a 1571 or 1581. This
  72. allows  you  to  automate  things  like your online mail sessions. For
  73. instance:  I  use  this  option  to  run Dialogue 128 (running its own
  74. script)  to upload replies and download new mail. Next QPE unpacks the
  75. mail  (this  is  another program of mine included in UNZIP128). Next I
  76. either  run, QWKRR128 to read offline, or I can have the computer shut
  77. itself  via  my  X10  interface,  so  I  can run this while I'm asleep
  78. without leaving the computer on.

  80. Timed events allow you to start a program or script at a preset time.

  82. Help keys: Options include: 1-8 which determines the menu screen to be
  83. accessed,  'a'  for alarm display, 'b' for autoboot of the first file,
  84. 'c'  for menu color changes, 'd' for the current date display, 'e' for
  85. editing  menu entries, 'l' for load data table from disk, 'm' for menu
  86. expansion  and  reduction  options,  'p'  for password option, 'r' for
  87. register  program,  's'  for save data table to disk, 'x' for exchange
  88. menu  entries,  '@'  for  the dos wedge, and '#' for the joystick port
  89. select.

  91. Auto  boot:  This  allows  you  an  easy way to configure EZ Loader to
  92. autoboot  the  first  menu selection automatically after EZ Loader has
  93. loaded.  There  is  an adjustable delay option so that the program can
  94. autoboot from 0-99 seconds after loading, in case you want to override
  95. the autoboot for some reason, by pressing any key or button.

  97. Color configurable:
  98. F1 = Menu Names
  99. F2 = Border
  100. F3 = Title Window
  101. F4 = Arrows
  102. F5 = Menu Prompts
  103. F6 = Prompt Responses
  104. F7 = Error Messages
  105. F8 = Background color
  106. CLR = Reset colors to default values

  108. Date  Display:Called  by  the  'd'  keypress.  If you have a RTC clock
  109. installed,  you will have access to the current calendar date from the
  110. main  display  screen, as well as the screen blanking screen. There is
  111. support  for the RTC in the CMD Smartmouse and CMD Trackball in port 1
  112. (12 hour mode).

  114. Rearrange  menu at any time: Called by the 'x' keypress. Allows you to
  115. move  your  entries  around and organize the menu should you ever need
  116. to.  Once  highlighted,  cursor  around  and press return when you are
  117. where  you want to be. Dos Wedge and selection of programs to run that
  118. ane  not on the menu: You can now execute programs not entered into EZ
  119. Loader,  by  accessing  a  directory  of  the  file,  cursoring to the
  120. highlighted  name,  and pressing return. The selected file, if it is a
  121. program  file,  will  be immediately executed without returning to the
  122. menu.

  124. You  can  load and save different versions of the menu entries, if you
  125. desire  too,  and  this  also allows an easy way to upgrade to a newer
  126. version of the menu.

  128. When the menu is left untouched for longer than one minute, the screen
  129. display  is  now blanked and a clock is displayed (if one isavailable)
  130. along  with  the current calendar  date, the EZ Loader identification,
  131. and  the  user's  registered  name. This display will change locations
  132. every  minute  to avoid screen burn in, and the normal menu display is
  133. restored when any key is pressed.

  135. 128 mode users can switch between the 40 column composite mode to the
  136. 80  RGB mode by pressing the C= (Commodore key), If your using a mouse
  137. you  can  click  on  the  word  screen.  I find this handy when either
  138. powering  up  in the wrong mode, or when I want to exit in a different
  139. mode.

  141. 128  users can drop to 64 mode from 128 mode without leaving EZ Loader
  142. by  pressing the ALT key. If you choose to not run anything once in 64
  143. mode, you simply exit and the Basic loader menu.bas is relocated.
